Hey folks!

Just wanted to update you on where I'm at concerning my art, and some future plans (well, fuzzy future plans, nothing is solid or clear, I suppose).

Regarding commissions: I know I still have a couple of commissions sitting here. I'm halfway done with one of them, and haven't yet started on the other. But they will get done very soon. Right now, I'm actually working on a commission for a dear friend as a Christmas present to his special someone (and I'm getting paid to do it), and I'm doing a birthday image for another friend that needs to be done ASAP. Additionally, I'm also doing a fan art of the Koopalings because now is a pretty appropriate time for that, and I need to do something for myself (it's a really cool image, you're going to like it!). When I'm done with this batch of commissions, I will not be opening up immediately after. I feel like I really need to get started on personal projects and strengthening my portfolio, and the pressure of doing art for someone else right now is kind of hindering that, particularly with having two jobs to work around.

Regarding personal projects: I have set a goal to start actual, solid work on "The Quest for Love with Yoki Safari" starting no later than January. I have a lot of concept art and I have jotted things down, but no real, structured writing or page-sketching has begun, and I'd like to do that soon. It could be a while before you see any of the actual comic, but it will happen, I'm confident. I need to do this comic in my journey to actually accomplish something as an artist, however small that may be. And thankfully, my excitement for the project and for Yoki has not waned at all. In other news, I have a couple of new ideas (per request of the poll) that may or may not see the light of DA, but could make for some cool and interesting pieces of artwork at least.

Regarding my poll in which I asked you which of my original properties was your favorite: I wasn't surprised to see the Duncan Family (untitled gamer family project) took the top spot with 26 votes (19%). Everything else following was a surprise: Ink took second, Wildflowers third, Yoki Safari fourth, "show us something new, please" took fifth (comments would have helped on that option, by the way), Jackal took sixth, Snailsvenue took seventh, and Other took 8th. I think once you see more Yoki, you'll warm up to her a lot. After all, I've really only shown one solid image in relation to that story.

Right now, there's a quickpaint of Yoki Safari in which you can see what is shaping up to be the final design for her outfit, exclusive to my art blog (for now, may end up in my scraps on here soon).

Regarding everything else: Work has been hectic (I'll be working at Blockbuster Thanksgiving 10 AM to 5 PM), and I'm tired of it all. Now more than ever it feels like work is just getting in the way of my art. I haven't had an art block in so long, though, which is good. I've been playing New Super Mario Bros. Wii (not as much as I'd like to, of course) and once I've finished the single-player mode, I want to write a review of it for you guys, since it's been a long time since I've written a game review and I miss doing so. And I need a haircut. Other than all that, there's not much else going on with me.
