It's been a while since I've uploaded anything that wasn't for a contest/commission of some sort, so this is certainly a breath of fresh air.
Those of you who have been with me for a while know that this is Jackal, the wingless fairy. He's a character of mine that I've enjoyed drawing on and off since about 2005, and he's one of my favorites.
Not so long ago, I tried to redesign him to make him look more natural and woodsy (he's a fairy, after all). The result can be seen here: [link]
It was a comment on that very piece by , however, that made me realize I was taking away the one true thing Jackal held above all of the other fairies you'll see on the internet, in books, and elsewhere: his uniqueness. The comment was:
"Personally I thought the idea of a fairy in an orange jumpsuit was really funny and original, though. That's just me!"
It opened my eyes and also helped me see the reason why I haven't truly enjoyed drawing this character ever since I started trying something different with him. So, I simply must thank you, . You helped me find Jackal again!
I added some details in his hat and jumpsuit just to make him a bit more interesting, but it's still fundamentally the same Jackal he's always been.
Please FULL VIEW and enjoy!

There are a lot of themes that run through the stock gallery many people have similar ideas but they pull them off in different ways. In this series of newsletters we will look at similar ideas but different outcomes.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

Thanks a lot! You know me. I'm always looking for an excuse to put someone in a jumpsuit.
