Yeah, it's not a movie. Not at all. But I just watched a really (really really) unusual Japanese animated film entitled (hope I spell this correctly) Tekkonkinkreet. It was very strange, but inspiring.
I love the method of painting detailed and beautiful backgrounds but having really simple and flat-colored characters. It's such an interesting and cool way to animate. I think it draws a considerable amount of attention to the character while still making the background look fantastic. American animated films often lack this, as the backgrounds usually look very similar to the characters inhabiting them.
Anyway, if I ever do a Megaman animation in the future (which would be fun, but is not likely to ever happen), I'd totally do it like this. Yeah, my background's not all that detailed, but you get the point. And yes, leave it to me to give Megaman tiny arms and legs with a huge head. It's what I do, y'know? ^_^
This is just a fun little spletch* I threw together in about 30 minutes. I figured I should update my account, as I technically did not post anything in the month of September (since it's 2:28 AM right now). I feel so bad! Forgive me!
Anyway, here's the specs:
Adobe Photoshop CS - start to finish. About 30 minutes. Image (c) me, Megaman (c) Capcom.
Tell me what you think! Oh, and as I probably said with my last Megaman fanart: I miss classic Megaman. All of this Battle Network junk really irritates me.
*Spletch (n.): Quick sketch; Doodle. "Michael drew SPLETCHES on his notebook that portrayed his love for Jan." (Yes, I made the word "spletch" up, but dont you just love it? spread the love - use the word "spletch.")
I watched Tekkonkinkreet yesterday! I loved White's daydreams.
It was a pretty sad movie, but it had its good parts. I had a really hard time understanding the plot, but meh.
I LOVED THE BACKGROUNDS and I loved whenever characters would fly.
This pic here is really cute, looks very animated.
I thought that using that sort of childish watercolor look for White's daydreams was a really cool and conscious decision on their part.
My favorite part, to be honest, is the opening. It's not...sad. And it's really easy to get into and fun. I have to agree, though, the movie as a whole was a little bit confusing.
Glad you like the piece!

Protoman is always in that "gray area." Sometimes he's good. Sometimes he's bad. Sometimes he's even playable! But he's cool.
I'd like to do more of these (or at least draw more characters). I had a lot of fun doing this one, so don't be surprised to see Protoman and some others in this style.
Is it Woodman's stage? I dunno. A forest just happened to be the first thing to come to my mind, that's all. I'm glad to see you interpreting it for yourself, though. I like to make people think.
A dream of Megaman. I dont think I've ever had one of those, but I bet it was a really good one.

but I like the drawing and your right I hardly even noticed the background, :'
but a megaman flash would be cool, the last time I saw something new about megaman was 3 years agoe or something >,<

Oh! I've wished to see Tekkonkinkreet ever since I saw the trailer 3 months bck from now! Is it any good? I guess so if it drove you to do this haha.
I can't wait tog et my clutches on it, thanks for reminding me it had came out!
By the way, I loved your tiny armed megaman. I think your facial style goes well with the body style.
And I agree about the battle network junk ):
It was a good movie, plus it was an excellent display of style and skill where art is concerned. Only problem is, the movie can be a bit confusing. You might watch it, finish it, and (like me) not really know what happened or understand what you just watched. But you'll still appreciate it for what it is.

I agree. And that's certainly what I thought I'd see going into it. I mean, a movie with Yakuza henchmen and aliens against kids who can...fly?! It sounded a little more heartfelt and light that what I got in the end.
But still...good movie.

Whether or not I would do it in Flash (hypothetically speaking) depends on what mood I'm in. I personally have a thing for frame-by-frame animation. Plus, Flash ruins sound and music in my experience. It makes it all fuzzy.

This would be awesome. But a forest? Is it WoodMan!? You should draw him in this style! :0
If there really were a movie, I would hope to see ProtoMan in it.
