Villain Month turns 21! I give you the Transylvanians of Rocky Horror Picture Show, a cult-classic musical with B-grade Sci-fi films and rock 'n roll in mind.
Alright, so I was sitting down trying desperately to think of the next villain to draw. I half-sketched a dozen things with much dissatisfaction, but then the idea to illustrate the Transylvanians (from left to right) Riffraff, Frankenfurter, and Magenta. Frankenfurter is on a quest to make a man with blond hair and a tan, good for relieving his "tension," and is throwing a huge bash in his mansion/lab/spaceship for all of his friends to celebrate the completion of his boy-toy, Rocky. Riffraff and Magenta are Frankenfurter's servants (or so it seems). Amidst all of this mess, poor Brad and Janet (not pictured here), a very vanilla, all-American, Christian couple is entangled in this story of sex, lies, intrigue, and meatloaf.
I was going to draw Columbia (those of you who remember anything about the film will remember the yellow sequin top hat and the annoying, high-pitched voice), but she's not really much of a villain and I'm pretty sure she's human, too, whereas these guys are aliens from Transexual, Transylvania. Yeah, no joke.
The film is definitely the "Grindhouse" of musicals. It's a really fun movie with great music if you just check your brain and inhibitions at the door. Many people still get together on weekends to go see it at small art house theaters and take part in a sort of audience participation where many lines are added and substituted by the audience for the sake of a few laughs. Oh, and there's toast, too. ;D
I should add that this movie is pretty special to me. My parents used to perform the show live when I was a kid. My mom almost always played Frankenfurter (yes, she was a woman playing an alien playing a man playing a woman) and my father usually played Brad, if not always. Some kids have memories of their mommies and daddies getting home from work and talking about the big promotion. I have memories of my dad cracking his rib while doing a crazy split in women's lingerie. Yeah...and you wonder why I'm messed up. ;D
This image isn't entirely accurate and I didn't have a reference for the actors, so take it for what it is. I hope you guys like it! Let me know what you think.
Adobe Photoshop CS, about an hour and a half total.
PS: If anyone thinks I should slap the good ol' Mature Content filter on this one since it is a bit crude, please let me know and I will. Until then, I don't think it's that offensive.
The Transylvanians are (c) Paramount Pictures (I think, correct me if I'm wrong please), and this image is (c) me, Andrew T. Green. Don't steal, because stealing is icky and will make you icky if you do it. That's what Jesus told me.
Oh man, this one is so wicked! I love your Magenta. Rocky Horror always has a special place in my heart. Thanks for inspiring me to get back to work to catch up on my own villains!
Thank you! I'm really glad you like it and that I've inspired you to get back to your villains, as well. I really need to catch up on what you've done, actually. I've been behind, so I've missed a couple of your villains.

I've never seen it or looked into this production much (lame, I know), but this drawing really reminds me of how cool and unique your style really is. I love the little background story of this piece and, man, what a colorful childhood you must've had. Boring lawyer parents for the looose.

So. Something new for down here. Hmm.
