A Winner Is You!

Hey guys!

I regret to inform you that my entry into Square Enix's "The World Ends With You Contest" was not one of the ten winners. But that's perfectly fine.

My entry, for those who may not have seen it yet:

Seriously, I had nothing to lose and out of (apparently) about 7,000 entries, there's no way I could expect to win. And I gained something from it, too: the character that I made, Rocky, doesn't technically belong to DA or Square Enix, so I can use him in the future should I choose to do so (though he might be dressed in something different, I would imagine).

Plus, having my art selected for inclusion into the Pepper Project art book (for more information, visit

) was good enough for me.

I had hoped to enter the Okami contest being hosted by DeviantART, but I unfortunately did not have a whole lot of time. When I did have a little and I tried to sit down and think of something, nothing came to me, so I figured I'd just let that one slide.

I would like to try hosting another contest, but I need to think of how best to host it (For example: receive more than two entries). I'll do some research and get back to you guys on that.

Contests are always a gamble, a lot of times my favorites never win.

I promise if you hold another contest, this time I'll enter (as long as there is ample time in the contest) and I can advertise for it in my journal (not that I get many page views so I doubt it'll help much *rofl*)

To be totally honest I don't think you could win because they were probably searching for a definite style. The gist of this contest was to design a character for the game itself, and when you design something for...something...that already has a definite style...well you have to adapt to that style. So I don't think it was because your entry was bad but...well you get it.

I DID TELL YOU you'd make it in the Pepper Project book though.

I'M NEVER WRONG. NEVERRRRR.

Getting noticed is a definite goal when doing things like this. I'd say getting picked for something like the Pepper Project is pretty darn cool.

I am not sure what kind of good ideas are there for hosting contests.... perhaps if could be something both challenges the artist and at the same time makes people like to draw too?

Yeah, but it's hard to marry the two correctly. And I wouldn't want something that's so challenging as to alienate the potential competitors, you know what I mean?
